Signed by Seattle as a non-drafted free agent in 2000; traded to Cleveland for 1B Ben Broussard, 7/26/06.
In five seasons in Mariners' organization entering '06, Choo had a .299 (607-for-2,029) batting average with 46 homers, 288 RBI, 359 runs, 95 doubles, 44 triples and 128 stolen bases in 182 attempts. ... His best year was 2004 at Class AA San Antonio, where he hit .315 (163-for-517) with 15 homers, 84 RBI, 89 runs and 39 steals in 48 tries.
