Biography:
Sophomore first baseman expected to play a key role offensively for the Cardinal this season. Started 40 games last year as a freshman and hit .283 with five doubles, three home runs, and 19 RBI. Came on strong toward the end of the season and then excelled over the summer playing in Alaska (.286 AVG, 2 HR). One of the top hitters on the club and should hit somewhere in the middle of the order. Is a natural catcher and could find some innings behind the plate, but most of his action will be as a starter at first base. Very smooth stroke from the left side of the plate. Should be a top draft prospect in 2008.
