| Biography: |
| Bonifacio is the best pure lead off hitter in the Diamondbacks organization, and he appears to be getting better. After an '04 campaign in which he stole 40 bases in 50 tries, but struck out 122 times in less than 500 at bats, and posted an on base percentage of just .306, the Diamondbacks sent him right back to Lo-A South Bend and asked him to come back in '05 ready to put the bat on the ball. The result: a .341 OBP, 32 fewer Ks in 111 more at bats, and 51 stolen bases. At Lancaster the mission statement is the same, strikeout less, walk more, but the Diamondbacks are very high on their top second base prospect, and Bonifacio has got to be excited that Justin Upton has moved to center field and not second base. |
